Brynithel V New Tredegar Pre Season Friendly

Brynithel V New Tredegar

Saturday the 3rd of August saw The Owls start their pre-season friendlys with the visit of a powerful New Tredegar side, In what was a very entertaining game in the swealtering heat (it was more like Brynbados than Brynithel) It was The Owls who began in the ascendancy, stopping new Tredegar time and again on the gainline and forcing them backwards, The Owls gameplan of moving the bigger New Tredegar team around the park started paying dividends. After 12 phases of play moving left to right around the field Scott Pitt crashed over for the games first try. Lloyd Hurn missing the conversion. the game continued in the same vein for much of the first half with further tries from Craig Meredith and the outstanding Carwyn Perry with Hurn again missing the conversions.

New Tredegar then gained a stronghold on the game throwing everything at Brynithel with the defence standing strong for large periods of the game, after 1 period of sustained pressure New Tredegar crashed over for a converted try.The second half saw a much more agressive New Tredegar and they soon scored another converted try after some dubious refereeing decisions. Now Brynithel were having to defend for their lives and did so with much gusto and resolve.

All in all a very good start with the new signings all playing very well alongside the established players.

My Man Of Match was Carwyn Perry for his all round play.

P.S. Lloyd Hurn wants his money back for his new boots as he says they’re shite.. I reckon he put his legs on backwards yesterday morning.
