Brynithel entertained Tredegar Ironsides on a dry Thursday evening on the Rec. There was a minutes silence for the one and only Bernard Pitt, who recently passed away. Always a supporter of the club and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
It was Ironsides who started best, putting in an excellent flowing attack, moving the ball from left to right, then back the other way, and eventually left to right again forming an overlap to produce a very nice try. Ironsides 7-0 up on 13min. Brynithel hit back very quickly with a penalty from Ashley Parfitt. This was the half time score. It could have easily been more, the Ironsides dropping final passes or last desparate tackles by Brynithel thwarting their Try chances.
The second half started in similar manner and the Ironsides increased their lead with two well taken penalties, Brynithel themselves got a penalty back, to make the score after 57min Brynithel 6:13 Ironsides. The last quarter belonged to Brynithel, they were camped out on the Ironsides line for long periods, but the Ironsides defence stood strong. There was no other scores, but this was a nail biter to the end. Ironsides should have finished the game off earlier in the match, but with just 7 points in the game, Ironsides failed to take their chances but Brynithel's domination in the final quarter had no effect.
